Idea Overview:
This is a simple idea about making a journey (plane, train, bus etc) more memorable and enjoyable. Current state: You book tickets in for train, bus or air journey. You may be able to select the comforts related to the journey like first class, business class, premium food etc. You may be able to choose and pick the physical comforts but not thy neighbors! Some journeys are memorable because you found a like-minded co-traveler or some are not so memorable because you found a troublesome neighbor. Opportunity How great if would be if you were able to sit amidst like-minded co-passengers(s) and get to do a bit of networking or go on to make great friends!! This would take the experience of travelling to a new height altogether. Solution At an additional premium, the ticketing system could gather the profiles of the regular passengers and assign seat to them in nearby vicinity. It's just a best-effort assignment and a match between fellow passengers is not guaranteed. Extension Once the framework/infrastructure to make this type of an arrangement is developed, it could be used in different use-cases like renting a home neighborhood and so on.

Why you think there is a demand for your idea?:
I think we are hitting a saturation point in providing the virtues needed to make travel effective and comfortable. Be it speed, safety, physical aspects like legroom, headroom, multimedia experience, connectivity so on. The ability to chose a co-passenger is a new-dimension altogether and fundamentally unique. A large population of travelers who are traveling alone would find this extremely interesting proposition to explore.

The idea is quite generic and has a broad user-base. Essentially all travelers using various modes of shared transport like plane, train, bus, cab are potential customers. The idea would be an instant hit with the "singles read to mingle" type of travellers.
What ideas do you have to reach these customers?:
Reaching out to customers is very simple. Just provide an optional add-on feature while booking the tickets as "find an like-minded co-traveler". Based on the amount of personal details the passenger is able to share voluntarily like date of birth, facebook profile, twitter handle etc, our software can use ti to match the passengers and provide them seating in the close by vicinity. So, there is not a huge amount of investment to provide this type of a service.
