Idea Overview:
I love the beach. You love the beach. Who doesn't love the beach. After 50 minutes of fumbling with the beach towel , and placing all your possessions in each of the towel's corners, you think you've finally solved the fly-away problem. The breeze coming off the ocean feels great and you are finally relieved that the towel is fixed in position. That's when, right before you settle down to take a nap, a breeze somehow lifts one of the towel's corners, sand goes flying into the towel, and your day-at-the-beach becomes an adventure in frustration. No more I say.... No more do you need to wrestle with an inanimate object just so you can enjoy the sun. No more do you need to worry about the towel making its way down the beach or taking its own dip in the water. Now, thanks to the "No Fly Zone" Beach Towel, you can truly enjoy the beach. Our beach towels have uniquely positioned grommets in all 4 corners of the towel that are held into place with "stakes" that hold the towel in place in the sand. Made of aluminum designed to hold up to the elements, this is a product that ensures your beach-going sanity.
Who might use it/where it might be used?:
This is useful not only for the beach, but for anywhere you may want to picnic. It's a dream for campers as well, who can secure the towels to the ground of their tents in order to not get themselves, or their possessions, dirty.
The Market (B2B, B2C or Both):
Business to Consumers (B2C)
Sector the idea belongs to:
Retail
Is there a similar idea to be found?:
I have done some rudimentary searches, but have yet to find a system that works like this. For example, Zommies Beach Towel Clip Anchor Sand Stakes Set of 4, sold on Amazon, has just the anchors without the towel and seems quite flimsy compared to the product that I've envisioned.
Why you think there is a demand for your idea?:
The outdoor goods, camping market, and beach market is very large. Surfers and other professional recreational users of beaches spend a lot of money each year (as shown by the success of Dick's Sporting Goods).
Who would be the ideal customers?:
The core customer is the beach-goer, picnicker, or camper who wants to know that a day-at-the-beach will not turn out to be a debilitating and psychologically destructive exercise in futility.
What ideas do you have to reach these customers?:
This item is perfect for the promotional product market (and trade shows including ASI and PPAI), the Surf Show, and for viral (and funny) comedic Tik Tok videos showcasing the madness that ensues if you don't use our product.
How far have you developed this idea?:
This is a relatively new idea for me. I've long ago believed that the ability to keep items in place is a general frustration. I tend to avoid the beach because of the insidious nature of sand and its ability to get into, and on, every item of clothing and orifice. But no, I haven't shared the idea... until now.
What – if any – feedback have you had for this idea so far?:
I don't have feedback yet from the potential consumer.
What supporting material – if any - would you like to add to your proposal?:
Towelie is a character popularized by "South Park." As my favorite character, Towelie is representative of everything a towel shouldn't be... kind of like the average beach towel that becomes a parachute when exposed to the slightest breeze.
