Idea Overview:
Typical garbage cans can become violent garbage-spewing projectiles when caught up in less-than-optimal weather conditions. Since garbage cans are often required in outdoor areas where wind gusts and sub-par weather can wreak havoc, I've invented the perfect garbage can that can hold up to all weather conditions, especially those frequently experienced in jolly old England.
The patent-pending system of a built-in water receptacle around the periphery of the can makes it easy to fill up with water after placing the can in the desired location. You simply open the valve, use a hose to add water until no more water will go into the reservoir, and reclose the valve cover. The water adds significant weight to the can and serves another purpose -- it makes the can untippable as well as unmovable. This miraculous garbage can is engineered so that it "compensates" for being tipped or moved in a certain direction, making it balanced no matter how it is moved.
Who might use it/where it might be used?:
This is perfect for parks, outdoor stadiums, by pool or beach areas, and anywhere where the garbage can will be exposed to outdoor conditions. Also, we can digitally print on the outside of the can so that it not only isn't an eyesore, it becomes a source of beauty to the surrounding areas. This will allow cities, counties, states, and companies to earn revenue from bus stops and public places where the cans appear.
The Market (B2B, B2C or Both):
Both
Sector the idea belongs to:
Retail
Is there a similar idea to be found?:
My intense garbage research indicates that there is nothing like it. Others have dealt with the problems of pests, racoons, etc., getting into the garbage, or have dealt with the portability or stability of the garbage can, but not the factors that this product is designed to solve.
Why you think there is a demand for your idea?:
There is, and will always be, a need for trash receptacles. From the dawn of time, man has been wasteful and prolific in his ability to create unfathomable amounts of trash. Often, there are limited receptacles placed where they are needed most -- outside near the pool, beach, recreational area, picnic area, or park. As man becomes ever more wasteful in his quest to bombard the universe with countless "basura," we will pick up the slack in preventing said trash to becoming a dangerous and disgusting eyesore.
Who would be the ideal customers?:
Government parks and recreation departments, universities, sports arenas, and branding agents.
What ideas do you have to reach these customers?:
Video of the aftermath of trash can calamities, along with coverage of the many people maimed by trash cans (allegedly, but we all know it's happening), can be used on TikTok and in infomercials.
How far have you developed this idea?:
I have not.
What – if any – feedback have you had for this idea so far?:
9 out of 10 trash cans agree that this is a defining moment in trash can history and that the day must be seized. No, I have not had feedback other than "the most brilliant idea since the pet rock."
What supporting material – if any - would you like to add to your proposal?:
None yet to protect my intellectual property rights.
